Veronika-Jai Olsen

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts the family of Veronika Jai Olsen announces her unexpected passing on November 23rd, 2023. Born May 1st, 1991, in Comox BC, to parents Rita Olsen and Blake Laws, Veronika called many places home. She attended school in both Courtenay and Hope, BC, before eventually settling in Brooks, AB, with her blended family; Partner Gordon and 3 children Sinead 17, Seamus 13, and Keygan 10. This year Veronika completed her Paralegal Diploma and took on the role of Coach for their youngest Keygan's soccer team, a responsibility she took with pride and joy which earned her the title 'World's Best Coach'. As friends and family would describe, Veronika was everyone's person, her smile could light up a room and to know her was to love her. She will be remembered for her fighting spirit and the joy she brought to the people around her. A public viewing will be held in Duchess at Thom's Funeral Home, on Thursday, December 7th, at 7 pm. Service Saturday, December 9th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the family at this time either directly or through Thom's Funeral home.
