Terrance “Kyiina” Bear Chief   December 2, 1955 – October 11, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Terrance Phillip Bear Chief, “Kyiina” on Monday, October 11, 2021.

He will be sadly missed by his loving partner Verona Melting Tallow, his sons: Allen (Michelle) McLeay, Erwin (Angel) Bear Chief, Terrance Jr. “Keith” (Shawna) Bear Chief and his beloved daughter Sheri-Lyn (Oscar) Melendez. God-children: Alec Back Fat, Kayla Fast, Crystal Melting Tallow & Richelle Wright. As wells as his precious fur baby Axel. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Drayton, Jarod & Holden McLeay, Mneote, Janjanwanbedaka & Zitkakdeska Louis, Jacob (Annette) & Morgan Red Gun, Erwin Jr & Melinda Bear Chief, Pacey Strangling Wolf, Naomi (Skye) Red Crow (Les), Theodore Means Jr, Shayle & Ethan Healy, Travis Big Bull, adopted granddaughter Aspen Cody. Great Grandchildren: Caspian Strangling Wolf-Bottle; Chloe, Braelyn, Aleena, Paityn, and Jacob Jr Red Gun.

 He also leaves behind his parents: Wallace (Teresa) Bear Chief, siblings: Norbert, Marlene, Leah, Wallace Jr, and Scotty Bear Chief, Roch (Lori) Fraser. As well as his adopted children: Francis Jr. Melting Tallow, Francine (Brooks) Melting Tallow, Teshawna (Cory) Running Rabbit, CJ Many Guns, Holly Solway, Drew Breaker, Arlin Spotted One, Shawna Bull Bear, Angela Conrad-Wolfleg.  Extended families, Bear Chief, Many Guns, Black Kettle, Heavy Shield, Letourneau, Inkster, Spring Chief, Little Chief, Wolf Leg, Smith, Many Shots, Bull Shield, Hind Bull, Day Chief, and numerous others.

Kyiina is predeceased by his daughters Leslie Dawn & Chasity Lynn, his mother Angeline Bear Chief, paternal grandparents: Walker and Martha Bear Chief, maternal grandparents: Phil and Ada Many Guns.

Kyiina made his Cursillo at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Standoff, Alberta with the theme song “Hosea”. In recent years he became an avid pool player winning matches that brought him to Penticton BC Championships, Edmonton & Calgary Western Canadian Championships, International 8-Ball Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved the fast-paced action of participating in pool tournaments with his beloved Pool League Families.

Kyiina also coached numerous teams throughout his life in hockey, baseball, basketball, and volleyball. He was active on numerous sporting boards with his highlight being on the Board of Governors in the Hockey Alberta organization. He spent countless hours and weekends away from his family for the rest of Albertans to benefit from his and his colleague’s hard work.

The Wake service will be held at the residence of Terrance and Verona in North Camp at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 15th, 2021. Funeral Services will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday, October 16th @ 1:00 pm. The resting place will be at Cannon Stockton Cemetery in North Camp, near his sweet baby girl Leslie Dawn. Lunch will be served as a drive-by at the residence of Verona and Terrance’s trailer in North Camp.

The family apologizes to all those within Terrance’s vast circle of Family and Friends who we have missed.
