TERESA MARY (I’KIMAAN) BEAR CHIEF
December 27, 1942—July 5, 2022
With heavy hearts, the family of Teresa Mary (I’kimaan) Bear Chief announce her passing on July 5, 2022 at the age of 79 at the Sagewood Care Centre. I’kimaan was born and raised in Siksika by her parents; the late Albert Big Snake & Maggie (Sun Shoe) Big Snake. The majority of her childhood life was spent in Little Washington where she grew up. I’kimaan is predeceased by her parents Albert and Maggie Big Snake, her siblings Margaret Youngman, Bernard Big Snake, Joan Brown Weasel and James Big Snake. She is survived by her husband Wallace Bear Chief, her children; Leah, Wally and Scott (Sonya), her grandchildren Tia, Haley, Teagan, Emma, Taylor and Maggie and great grandchildren Layla, Arlo and Aria, and one remaining sister . I’kimaan is also survived by Uncle Gordon (Christine) Big Snake. I’kimaan is also survived by numerous nieces and and nephews whom she loved so dearly. I’kimaan had a passion for everything from cooking to travelling the world, creating memories with her family and grandchildren. I’kimaan travelled the Holy Land for a month in 1993 and shared with us her experience in the Holy Land. I’kimaan travelled to Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee with her nieces Vivian and Justine Big Snake, she had an enjoyable time. I’kimaan will also be remembered for the love of ‘Oldies But Goodies’ music, her favourites were Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Tom Jones and Neil Diamond. One of her favourite songs was ’Leah’ by Roy Orbison and named her oldest daughter ’Leah’. I’kimaan was an avid music lover and collected LP’s and 45’s. Her humour and humility always put people at ease. She was a kind, caring, humble and loving person, I’kimaan was everybody’s friend. She was a true believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and was strong in her faith. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, her kindness and compassionate spirit. She touched the lives of so many; our beloved, happy I’kimaan, the light of our lives and the star of our hearts and leaves us smiling through our tears. She was joy personified. Please spread her message of love, dance and laughter and to be good to one another. It was I’kimaan’s request that bright, happy colors be worn for her celebration of life. The family would like to thank the Sagewood Care Centre and staff, Doctor Abercrombie and nurses. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers.
