Shirley Rae (Hegland) Hegland

Shirley Rae Hegland October 1, 1944 – October 10, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the Family of Shirley Hegland announces her passing.
Shirley was born Oct 1, 1944 in Lethbridge AB, and grew up in Lethbridge, Empress, and Medicine Hat. She
continued on to University in Edmonton and attained her Teaching Degree. It was during this time that she
developed her loyalty to the Elks and Oilers. She began her teaching career in Red Deer, then in Brooks
and taught junior high for a number of years. From there she moved on to become the Bookkeeper at
Community GMC before finally running her own bookkeeping business.
She was an avid curler and golfer. She loved to travel. She was a devoted Legion Member.
She is survived by her brothers, Gordon (Valerie) and Rodney (Susan), along with numerous nieces and
nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Don; sister, Jean; and parents, Mary and Halvor.
A celebration of life will be held on Moday, October 27th at 1:00PM at the Heritage Inn and Suites in Brooks, AB, 1217 2 Street West, Brooks.
