It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother and Uncle. Shawn leaves behind to mourn his children, Shawna Prairie Chicken (Oren), Deon Prairie Chicken ( Diandra) and Mandy Prairie Chicken (Kaylon). His grandchildren Makiya (babygirl), Kolt, Denika, Liam, Mckinley, Malia, Eastyn, Nash and Tate. His Mother Sylvia Yellow Old Woman, brothers Treffery (Gail) Deerfoot, Wilbur (Frankie) Yellow Old Woman, Rodney Yellow Old Woman, Faron Many Shots and sister Francine Mcmaster. His adopted Mothers, Myrna Running Rabbit and Sally Fox. Shawn is predeceased by his father Freddy Yellow Old Woman, sisters Freda Brunell and Jenny Axe. Shawn was a champ in all sports especially in hockey and in baseball, he was known to throw an awesome hockey tournament and also known to be one of the best pitchers in baseball. Shawn was one of the greatest hockey coaches not only for his children but for the community kids which he taken a lot of pride in; he was the true MVP. Shawn was always cracking jokes and was so silly, he had nick names for everyone. You would never see Shawn without his big bright smile. Shawn had many friends all over who he cared tremendously for; they were his family. Shawn was a very protective papa and father. He loved and cherished his children and grandchildren; he would do anything to see his grandchildren happy. Shawn danced in all the powwow’s and shows he attended. He was in the men’s chicken dance category; Shawn danced the old-style way and took pride in that. Shawn was also very proud of his Blackfoot heritage and where he comes from, he loved all of his uncles and aunts and was so proud to be their nephew. Shawn also cherished his dad, his sisters and his mother. If you ever had the chance to meet Shawn you would have known just how caring he was and even if he didn’t know you, he would protect you and take off his jacket for you. Shawn had a heart of gold; he was very humble and generous to everyone he crossed paths with. Shawn will be missed by so many, especially by his children and grandchildren. Wake service was held at 6 PM on Thursday, Feb 6. at Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour. Funeral service was held at 12 PM on Feb. 7. at Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour.
