With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Sharon Theresa “Girlene” Weasel Child on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Girlene is survived by her loving husband of 48 years Chief Joe Weasel Child; children Keith (Glenda), Crystal (Matthew) and Ferlin (Angie); Grandchildren Rayne, Devon, Sage (King), Madelyn (Nathaniel), Ryder (Delanie), Ethan, Peyton, Shyles, Alicia (Dakota), Aspen, Taylor, Mackenzie, Jody, Liddell, Kayle, Chase, Cam and Kolby; Great Grandchildren Camila, Kenai, Avianna and Kierston. Her siblings Polly (Harold) Woods, Agnes McMaster, Francis McMaster and Georgette (Al) Medicine Shield, Rose Wolfleg, Elnora Scalplock, Donna, Verna (Harley), Eldon (Tanya) and Stephanie Weasel Child, Maureena Pretty Youngman, Ruth (Francis) Melting Tallow, Lena Running Rabbit, and JoAnne Yellow Horse. Traditional Mother Margaret Good Eagle, Aunt Rena Sinclair and Uncle Wayne Fox.
Girlene was predeceased by her parents Christine (Medicine Shield) & Weyman McMaster, Sister Linda Rose, Brothers Harley and Gene Frank McMaster. Maternal Grandparents Mary (Little Ration) & Frank Medicine Shield, Uncles and Aunts: Joe (Geraldine), George (Edith), Franklin Medicine Shield, Rosie (Adam) Solway, Jane (Harrison) Bull Bear, Frances (Aloysius) Many Bears and Verona Fox. Paternal Grandparents Ada (Water Chief) & Donald McMaster, Uncles and Aunts: Levitt (Ann) McMaster, Noreen Poor Eagle, Marie (Joe) Old Woman and Alice (Peter) Axe. Mother-In-Law Alice Weasel Child, sister Doralee and brothers Stan Weasel Child, Leo Pretty Youngman. Nephews Harley Jr and Justin McMaster; Nolan Sleigh-McMaster, Travis and Sonnie Weasel Child, Neice Jolene Wolfleg.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Ben Sader and Staff for the care and comfort they provided to Girlene over the years, as well as to Siksika Home Care and Siksika Medical Transportation. We know that Girlene touched many lives and we would like to thank everyone who has supported us in our time of grief and sorrow through your prayers, your kind donations and just stopping in to check on the family; it really means a lot to us, and we deeply appreciate it.
