Ronald “Punky” McHugh Apoyo’ksissako

July 16, 1956 – March 15, 2021

It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of a Father, Brother, Uncle, cousin and friend Ronald “Punky” McHugh. 

Punky – Apoyo’ksissako (Brown Meat) was born on July 16, 1956 at the Blackfoot Hospital. Punky was a very outgoing, loving, kind man. Even with his disabilities he conquered what he set out to do. Punky’s passion was to become a counselor for Siksika Nation to be a spokes person for Siksika Disabilities. He was a strong advocate for Siksika Nation member with disabilities. Every term Punky would get his campaign ready. Punky made friends everywhere he went and was loved by so many people. Punky worked at the Calgary Stampede every year wearing his white cowboy hat with pride. Punky’s favorite past time is gambling. He loved to gamble at the casino and on his computer at home. Punky’s favorite time was to hang out with his brother Scotty Many Guns eating Chinese food or going for lunch talking politics and joking around. 

Ronald “Punky” McHugh leaves behind his children: Denny, Ronald Jr., Ryan, Chantel (Jim), MJ. Grandchildren: Brendon, Aaden, Langdon, Isiah, and Baby Pearl. Brothers: Neil (Carol), Jerome (Jackie), Trevor (Mandi).  Sister: Sonia. Nieces: Carolee, Vada, Jade (Zac), Joy, Tasheena, Alberta, Drae, Jane (Pernell), and Samantha. Nephews: Shane, Neil Jr., Barry Jr., Cody, Jocko, Zach, Larson, Ashford, and Anson. Numerous great nieces and nephews. Punky was predeceased by his parents: Ronald and Pearl McHugh Brothers: Barry, Warren, Blair. Sisters: Donna, Sandra. Niece: Yvette Starlight, Lisa McHugh. With great sadness his daughter, Krista McHugh who suddenly passed 48 hours after Punky.

Extended families: Red Crow, McMasters, Many Guns, Wolf Leg, Breaker, and Delorme. The family would like to apologize to anyone they may have missed as Punky was and had loved many people. The family would like to thank Rockyview Hospital Unit 73

Wake Services to be held at the Residence of Jerome and Jackie McHugh, Map 9 House 87 @5pm, on Friday, March 19, 20201. Funeral Services to be held at the Holy Trinity Church in Cluny, AB @11am on Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Family invites you to a drive by feast at Jerome and Jackie’s Residence after the funeral. All COVID restrictions and guidelines will be followed. Please wear a mask.
