Robert Kelso Smith Jr

SMITH, Robert Kelso Jr, age 91, of Brooks, Alberta, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 31, 2025, at the Brooks Health Centre with his family at his side. Robert was born on October 12, 1933, in Taber, Alberta and is survived by his loving spouse of 72 years, Arlene; his children Kathy (Frans), Gordon (Vivian), Connie (Ron) and Candace (Robert). He is also survived by his brother Kelly Smith, son-in-law (Rick Severtson), daughter-in-law Heather Smith. Robert was predeceased by his children: Richard Earl, Stewart Lloyd, and Cindy Lucille; his parents Bob & Mary Smith, brothers: Leo and wife, Zelma Smith, and Ronald Smith. He will be sadly missed by his 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was a trucker most of his life but settled down to farm when Kathy turned 5 and started school. After leaving the farm he hauled grain and again hauled gravel and asphalt for customers until he turned 85. Robert was a hard-working man with strong family ties with his large family. He was always ready to share his stories and we loved to hear them. Funeral services to be held at 2:00 PM on August 9th, 2025, at Thom’s Funeral Home in Duchess, Alberta, Pastor Charles Roth Officiating. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
