Robert Simpson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Robin) Carr Simpson of Brooks, Alberta on August 5, 2021 in Medicine Hat Hospital.

Robin was born on April 4, 1939 to Robert and Elizabeth Simpson and raised on the family farm in Tilley, Alberta. Upon graduation from Tilley High School, he was off to Olds College where he met the love of his life Eleanor Ion. After their marriage on August 21, 1957, they turned to the family ranch in South Tilley where Robin farmed and ranched with his brother Tom for many years.

Shortly after their marriage Robin and Eleanor purchased their home farm where they raised their three children (Gord, Doug and Carol). At the same time Robin diversified into cattle ranching. Over the years Robin developed and expanded their herd and produced some of the finest Charolais X calves in the area. Robin was a respected rancher and farmer whose expertise guided many in the community.

Robin was a strong community supporter from the early years of playing trumpet in the local band, coaching and playing hockey, and sitting on the board of Bow Slope Shipping Association. He was an avid curler and an active member of many local clubs. Many a night Robin would break trail for all the late-night curlers adventures in getting home.  Robin always was the first to step up where needed in the community.

Robin is survived by his wife of 63 years Eleanor Simpson, his sisters Andrea Suffidy (George) of Ottawa, Ontario and Karen Frey of Banff, Alberta, his children Gordon Simpson (Cindy) of Port Alberni. BC, Doug Simpson (Debbie) of Leduc, Alberta and Carol Day of Taber, Alberta. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Simpson, Bradley Day (Breanne) and Ashley Fisher (Andrew) and his great grandchildren, Logan Fisher, Zachery Day and Bennett Day.

Robin is predeceased by his brother Tom Simpson (Cathy), sister Laura Marie Buck (Walter), brother in-law Gary Frey and son in-law David Day.

A private Simpson Meeting of The Clan and family will be held at a future date.
