Robert (Bob) Preston of Brooks, Alberta passed away at 93 years of age on January 26, 2025. He was born in Hanna, Alberta to Robert and Katherine Preston on September 11, 1931. He had 12 siblings. He is survived by: Fred, Madge, Catherine, Ruth, Ada, and Ida. He is predeceased by: William (Bill), George, John, Joe and two siblings who passed away very young. He moved to Brooks about 60 years ago and built a good reputation as a hardworking, honest and kind man. He gave up driving at 80 years of age and made a point to walk as much as he could to get to where he needed to go. Robert was often seen walking to the store or to have coffee. With a health record like his, it seemed like he would outlive us all. To his recollection it had been 50, or so, years since he had gone to see the doctor. He enjoyed sharing what he learned from the bible with anyone. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he attended weekly meetings on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings often going out for lunch or coffee after to enjoy further association. Saturday mornings he would take time to reach people at their homes and share something comforting with them. He was always ready to go and on time and never took anyone for granted. Bob is survived by his sons: Gordon, Ronald (Peggy), Reginald, Andrew (Michelle) and Darryl. His grandchildren: Brett, Alex, Zachary, Portia, Virgilia, Regan, Rachelle, Amanda, Christian, Melissa, Alexis, Cassandra, Grady, Mason and Shaye. He has much more extended family, with a previous calculation years ago numbering into the hundreds. We all miss him. Sadly, Bob had to endure the loss of his son, Joel and then lose his grandson Troy. A funeral service will take place at Thom’s Funeral Home on February 7, 2025 at 2 PM.
