Ralph Goodeagle

 GOOD EAGLE, Ralph Joseph - (OHKOTOK)     

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ralph. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the age of 77 years. Ralph was born and raised on the Siksika Nation reserve where he attended the Crowfoot Indian Residential School and attended James Fowler High School in Calgary.

He worked in a few industries throughout his life, including, as a ranch/farm hand for the Jackson Farm, the Klaiber Farm, and the Many Heads Farm (Matthew), security services with Siksika Tribal Administration, custodian for the Siksika Board of Education (Siksika High School) and finally returned to the Siksika Tribal Administration as the beloved and revered custodian where he was fondly referred to as “Mr. Clean” by staff.  

Ralph, who loved family and friends dearly, kept busy after his retirement caring for his homestead, going on walks as many will recall passing him by. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, humour, love for music and dance, always a cheerful person. Ralph will also be revered for his strong faith as he was a devout Catholic. Ralph is survived by his sister Loretta Pauline; brothers Cyril and Floyd (Violet) Good Eagle; goddaughter Dora; nieces Carol, Mavis, Elaine, Jillian, Cecile (Horton), Lisa, Rose (Blaine), Jackie, Candice (Roy), and Tina; and nephews Leroy (Marsha), Arthur, Ivan (Lorraine), Grant (Dedria), LJ (Sarah); great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends. Extended families the Big Snake's, Crow Chief's, Drunken Chief's, Many Fires, Sleigh's, Prairie Chicken's, Leather's, Medicine Shield’s, and Three Sun's. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Paulus and Gertrude Good Eagle; his sisters Theresa and Hazel; brothers Cecil, James, Paul, Amos, Phillip, and Michael; nieces Peggy, Laverna, Gertrude, and Debbie; nephews Elroy, Waylon, Shane, Gil and Shawn; great-nephew Horton Jr. and great-niece Stacey. He will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.

Wake Services will be held at his residence, Map 8 CL27, Siksika Nation, Alberta on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Siksika Nation, Alberta, on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 11:00 am with Deacon Roger Nelson. Graveside service to follow at the Crowfoot Cemetery, Siksika Nation.
