It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Napi Francis Little Light. The Great-Great-Great Grandson of Eagle Rib – signatory to the Blackfoot Treaty #7 of 1877. Peter, of Siksika Nation, passed away suddenly on October 3, 2023, at the age of 42. Peter was born in Calgary, Ab on, February 13, 1981. To the parents of Thurman and Colleen Little Light.
Peter leaves behind his Special Friend Andrea Simon, Grandmother Christine Little Chief, and Great Auntie Veronica Medicine Shield. Peter's children whom he loved: Jada, Dralin, Keeana, Sequoia, Raedence, Teshay, Lydia, Petera, Tatus, Thurman, Dravis, Stetson, Elssa, Toby. One grandson, Kai. His siblings: are Brandon (Tawnya), Arthur (Trisha), Shannon (Gene), Sally, Vicky, Franklin, Lorretta, Maria (Preston), Nicole, and Jamie (James). Aunts and uncles: Georgia Spotted Eagle, Debra Spotted Eagle. Fred Drunken Chief, Bradford Little Chief, Raylene (Wade) Healy, Marilyn Little Chief, Alice Medicine Shield, Tashiro (Ray) Spotted One, Jolene Medicine Shield, and Special Aunty Linda Little Chief. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins to name.
Peter’s extended families include Eagle Rib, Little Light, Bear Hat, Royal, Spotted Eagle, Dailey, Little Chief, Wolfleg, Low Horn, Spring Chief, Stabbed Last, Bull Bear, Yellow Horse, Medicine Shield, Solway, Good Eagle, Wells, Many Bears, McMaster.
Peter is predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Velma Spotted Eagle, Arnold Lee Daily, maternal grandparents: Joseph Medicine Shield and Geraldine Medicine Shield. Granddaughter Kira Mistaken Chief. Niece Camillia Little Light, Aunts and Uncles Judy Miles, Rocky Spotted Eagle, Gregory (Frisco) Spotted Eagle, Elain Spotted Eagle, Sandy Spotted Eagle, Patrick Little Chief, Ellie Little Chief, Guy Medicine Shield, Emery Medicine Shield, Joely Medicine Shield, Jocey Medicine Shield, Dallas Medicine Shield, Sherrie Medicine Shield. Peter grew up in Calgary and moved to Siksika when he was 13 years old. He attended Crowfoot School and Siksika High School. Peter worked on the oil rigs, Durwest Systems Construction, and numerous other places.
Peter looked forward to family potlucks and get-togethers. He was passionate and protective of everyone he cared about. Peter shared a special bond with his grandmother Christine, he always checked on her making sure she was okay. Peter was always one of the first ones to volunteer for the annual family tipi setup at the Siksika Fair. He even helped the women with the liners because he was a lady's man. The family would like to thank the Siksika EMS, Siksika Crisis, and Gleichen RCMP for their support.
Wake services will be held on October 9, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the Siksika Arbor. The funeral Service will be held on October 10, 2023, at the Gleichen Legion.
