Peter Jens Hansen

Surrounded by his family in Brooks, AB, Peter Jens Hansen peacefully went home to Jesus on July 26, 2025, at the age of 84. Peter was born on Sept 13, 1940, in
Rosemary, AB the first of 7 children born to Elizabeth and Jens Hansen.

He met and married the love of his life, Margaret Wiebe, in 1964, and together they raised 4 beautiful daughters on a farm near Duchess, AB. Peter and Margaret celebrated 61 years together this year. Peter was an incredibly loving and devoted husband and father. As a respected businessman in the Brooks community for over 50 years, he provided a good life for his family. He was a dedicated member of Duchess Mennonite Church. Peter will be remembered by so many for his kindness, generosity, and deep love for his Lord. He was known for lending a helping hand to many who were going through hard times. Peter will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, his daughters, Beverley (Steve) Neigum, Wanda (John) Evans, and Arlene (Blaine) Zandbelt, his grandchildren, Vicky (Brett) Seidler, Pamela Barg, Joshua (Nichole) Barg, Desirae (Jason) Kavanagh, Brandon (Kristen) Neigum, Taylor (Cody) Latrace, Sherae (Joel) Hubert, Kayla (Jesse) Wood, Brycen Zandbelt, Chase Zandbelt, and 21 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Jens and Elizabeth Hansen, his oldest daughter, Katharine Dawson, and his son-in-law, Rick Dawson.

Our deepest gratitude to Dr. Maarten Coetzee and the staff at Long-term care in Brooks Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion while Dad was in their care.

The family will be holding a service to celebrate his life at Duchess Mennonite Church on Aug 1st, 2025, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or Duchess Mennonite Church in his memory.
