Perry Big Snake Obituary

With heavy hearts the family of Perry Scottie Big Snake announce his sudden passing on May 17, 2021 at the age of 54 at the Brentwood Care Centre. Perry was born and raised in Siksika to the late Bernard & Mary Lilian Big Snake. The majority of his childhood life was spent in Little Washington where he grew up with relatives along his age. He is survived by his siblings; Alphone Yellowfly, Robin (Gloria) Big Snake, Bernadette (Marvin) Eagle Bear, Vivian Big Snake and Rosie (Malcom) Many Shots. Perry is also survived by Uncle Gordon (Christine) Big Snake, Aunties; Rosemarie Poor Eagle and Teresa (Wallace) Bear Chief. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved so dearly. Adopted Mother’s; Rev. Margaret Water Chief, Rosemarie Poor Eagle and Rose Red Gun. Adopted Siblings; Raymonda, Lorelie, Leandra, Ernest, Wesley, Carla, Gina, Tracey and Beryl. Perry had a passion for drawing & painting, creating extraordinary art. Perry will also be remembered for his love of Michael Jackson music and musical video’s.  His humour and humility always put people at ease. He was a kind, caring, humble and loving person. He was a true believer in our Lord Jesus Christ. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his kindness and compassionate spirit. He touched the lives of so many; our beloved, shining, happy brother, the light of our lives and the star our hearts and leaves us smiling through our tears. He was joy personified. Please spread his message of love, dance and laughter and be good to one another. Perry was born on October 19, 1966 and was called home on Monday May 12, 2021 to happily reunite with mom and dad, brothers, sister and extended family in that Big Tipi in the sky. Perry came from the Running Martin Band/Yellow Horse bank on our mothers’ side and the Old Sun Band on our Dad’s side. Perry grew up on and off the reserve, Calgary and Fox Creek to name a few. One achievement he was proud of was when he got chosen to attend Banff School of Fine Arts through many of his Art Work, but due to unfortunate circumstances Perry couldn’t fulfil his dream. However, he remained active in his art work and was proud to design our family crest. Perry had Many friends from all walks of life and would consider every one as family. He had a great compassion and love for all his nephew’s and nieces, especially for the people of Siksika. Perry comes from a big family and extended family, Big Snake, Breaker, Cutter, Wadsworth, Bruised Head, Black Rabbit, Low Horn, Sleigh, Poor Eagle, Two Horns, Eve Yellow Old Woman Family, Drunken Chiefs, Leathers, Robinson, Own Chiefs, Storms, Big Eyes, Late Margaret Water Chief and Family, Brown Weasel, Tail Feather, Standing Alone, Calf Robe, Yellow Fly, Red Gun just to name a few. Also Buffalo and Many Hides from Black Feet Nation and many extended families from Black Feet Nation. As Perry would say “Us Natives Are One Big Family”. Predeceased by father, Bernard Big Snake and Mary Lillian Cutter, Brothers Gerald, J.D, Vernon, Carl, and Annie. Grandparents Cutter & Big Snake numerous Aunts and Uncles, friends and relatives. At this time, we want to thank the Many people that have donated financial and to the people of Siksika who showed support in our time of Grief. God bless you. Thank you to Sage wood, Brentwood Nursing Home and staff, his nurse’s RN Marta, Dr. Rodel Cenabre, Social Workers; Dianne Ireland and Reagan Shultz and everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers. Wake Service will be held at the Residence of Berni Eagle Bear May 24, 2021 at 4 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Siksika Holy Trinity Church at 1:00pm on May 25.
