It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunty, and friend. Mercedes Jeanette Big Tobacco, aka Saddie, passed away December 13, 2024 at Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 26.
Saddie was born and raised on the Siksika Nation, but later moved to Fort Macleod and Calgary where she attended school. In 2010 Saddie moved back to Siksika Nation where she continued her education and graduated her grade 9 grade. When Saddie was young she took up Taekwando, which she loved doing. Saddie participated in the Powwow Trail as a fancy dancer. Later in her years, Saddie studied at the Riel Institute where she received and accomplished her level one in Early Childhood Education and also accomplished a program called Matriarch where she learned about herself and how to be strong and face her fears. Also, her dream was to study Cosmetics and attend College and graduate to support her 3 boys whom she loved, cherished, and cared for. In her travels, Saddie met a lot of people through friends and on Social Media (Facebook). Saddie was loved by so many people and will always be remembered by her kind heart, her compassion towards others, her love for her family and friends.

Saddie was pre-deceased by grandparents: James Blackface, Martha Big Tobacco, Anthony Sr. Scalplock, Theresa Many Guns. Great grandparents: Elizebeth Big Tobacco, Lawerence Big Tobacco, James (Mary) Many Guns, Annie Catface, Joe Catface, Harvey Pretty Young Man, Uncles: James Jr. Big Tobacco, Calvin Big Tobacco, Darrel Little Plume, Arthur Scalplock, Wilton Scalplock, Colleen Scalplock, Alex Sr. Scalplock, Aunties: Connie Rabbit Carrier, Susan Strangling Wolf, Edna Blackface, Brothers: Korey Scalplock, Robyn Rider, Girly Big Tobacco, Toni Mills, and Renata Big Old Man, Isaiah Black Rider, and Christina Black Rider, Maurice (Fatts) Brass, and Diane Brass.
