Mom enjoyed watching her grandchildren play hockey in the early 2000’s when she gained the name “Hockey Grandma” from the first Siksika Minor Hockey Girls Team, which all the girls still call her Grandma. She was their biggest fan, cheering on the girls. Mom only missed one game throughout Kriesten’s minor hockey years. Mom cheered loudly and proudly for the Calgary Flames and would often say “It was in” once playoff season approached. Mom could be found at her sewing table, all hours of the day, sewing anything she put her mind to. Mom enjoyed going to pow-wows and was also very talented at making pow-wow outfits for all her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a record of whipping up an outfit in 25 minutes before grand entry. Mom’s home was a safe place for many, she always had her door open to anyone who needed a warm meal and a place to stay. Mom had a heart of gold and invited anyone into her home to have tea and Bannock and share some laughs and stories. Mom loved to travel, and her highlighted trips include Hawaii with Marilyn in 2013 and many trips to California with the grandchildren. Mom loved to take off to Missoula, Montana USA any chance she got to visit her beloved granddaughters Shannon & Maria. Mom enjoyed Black Friday shopping in the USA, she even talked Gene into bringing her to the Dollar Tree on Black Friday, just to see what kind of discount they could get.
