Mary Anne Baerg 1931- 2021
Mary Anne Baerg, nee Klassen, of Rosemary AB passed away at Sunrise Gardens on June 3, 2021 at the age of 90. Mary was born January 17, 1931 in Winkler, MB to Woldemar and Olga Klassen, a little sister for Elizabeth. At the age of four her mother died and her father remarried later that same year. Nine years later brother Walter was added to the family.
In 1946 the family moved to Chilliwack where Mary met George, while attending the same school and Church. They were married in 1953, and over the next 10 years had five children. George's teaching career moved them to several locations in BC, and in 1976 to Winkler MB. In 1992 George switched from teaching to pastoring and over the next ten years they served as interim pastor to various churches. In 2002 George retired and they settled in Rosemary, AB. Mary was a devoted wife and supported George in all his endeavors.
Having gone to church her whole life, at the age of 13 Mary asked Jesus into her heart and was baptized a few months later. She joined the church and actively served in various capacities throughout her life. She was strong and capable, physically and emotionally. She enjoyed hard work, reading, sewing, puzzles, and knitting. She will be remembered by many for her long Christmas letters, good food, open hospitality, and devotion to Christ.
Predeceased by her mother, stepmother Elizabeth, and father, husband George in 2015, and grandson Nathaniel, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth and brother Walter (Karen), children Rob (Joyce) of Rosemary, Rick (Annette) of Rosemary, Margaret Peters of Winkler MB, Lisa (Warren) Krushel of Calgary, Katherine (Dan) McCallum of Thompson MB; 13 grandchildren & 22 great grandchildren. Family graveside service will be held on June 10, 2021 at Rosemary Cemetery and a public memorial service will be held in July.
