Marilyn Bryden

November 19, 2022 marks the passing of Marilyn Bryden.

To accurately convey the life of Marilyn Bryden; a gallery, not a paragraph or two is needed. There would be books, beautifully bound and filled with spectacular stories, such as the ones she read to her children and grandchildren which has passed on her love of reading, to the grand odysseys she found herself captivated with. Splendid quilts, ones that could only manifest from her imagination, color sense and maverick approach. These quilts an extension of her essence, warmth and love, now part of her legacy.

The light from the gallery window would fall upon vases of tiger lillies, gerber daisies and intricate bunny figurines. Hanging on the wall opposite would be some of the colorful and carefully put together outfits she was known for.

Then there's the photographs; capturing her smile, posture and unique gestures. Photos of her childhood, adventures with her husband and of Marilyn embracing her children and grandchildren.

None of them are equal to being one of those fortunate enough to join her in the kitchen, enjoying a bowl of warm soup or some baking while listening to one of her stories or jokes. Her creativity was not limited to her varied inventive endeavors; it continued with culinary experiments and baking that often received a five-star review from anyone lucky enough to enjoy it. She leaves behind a rich legacy through her family and those who shared in her life. Marilyn will truly be missed.
