Surrounded by her family in Medicine Hat, AB, Margaret (Weibe) Hansen peacefully went home to Jesus on January 19, 2026 at the age of 82. Margaret was born on September 16, 1943 in Gouldtown, SK, the 4th of 6 children born to Frank and Mary Weibe.
Margaret met and married the love of her life, Peter Hansen in 1964 and together they raised 4 beautiful daughters on a farm near Duchess, AB. Margaret and Peter celebrated 61 years together last year. She was a dedicated member of Duchess Mennonite Church. Margaret will be remembered for her generosity, thoughtfulness, and her love for her family.
Margaret will be deeply missed by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Beverley (Steve) Neigum, Wanda (John) Evans, and Arlene (Blaine) Zandbelt; her grandchildren, Vicky (Brett) Seidler, Pamela Barg, Joshua (Nichole) Barg, Desirae (Jason) Kavanagh, Brandon (Kristen) Neigum, Taylor (Cody) Latrace, Sherae (Joel) Hubert, Kayla (Jesse) Wood, Brycen Zandbelt, Chase Zandbelt; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Weibe; her oldest daughter, Katharine Dawson; son-in-law, Rick Dawson; and her beloved husband, Peter Hansen.
Our deepest gratitude to the nurses and doctors at the Medicine Hat hospital for the excellent care and compassion while Margaret was in their care.
The family will be holding a service to celebrate her life at Duchess Mennonite Church, 204 3rd Street East, Duchess, AB on Tuesday, Jan 27th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lifetalk Counselling Services of Brooks, AB or to Duchess Mennonite Church.
