Marcia Black Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Marcia Lynn Black.

On Saturday November 12, 2022, Marcia left us to meet her parents and siblings and the love of her life Charlie.

Marcia is survived by her only child Terrance (Gopher) Black, her sister Geraldine Black, June Duck Chief, Marie Healy, Herman (Ida) Duck Chief, Jackie (Clarence) Duck Chief, Jenny Goodin, Floria Duck Chief and her neice Sandra (Steven) Sparvier. She will also be lovingly remembered by her adopted sister Roberta (Sam) Jerry, her nephews and nieces; Bobby Wells, Jade Black, George Big Crow, Viola Dale, Karalie (Todd) Red Old Man, Richard Sparvier, Savanna Sparvier and Tracy Many Guns whom she helped raise as their nanny, her beautiful and cherished neices Charmaine and Tasca Black whom she got to share laughs and memories with before her passing.

Marcia travelled many miles and met and cherished the many who had the opportunity to cross paths with her, she had a youthful demeanor and made friends with young and old throughout her adventures and shenanigans.

Marcia is predeceased by her parents Francis and Louise (nee:Belcourt) Black, her love, Charlie Leather, her siblings Evelyn Black, Bernice Ford, Yvonne Black, Eileen Big Crow, Isadore Black, Roderick Black, Luke Black, Mildred Black, Peter Black , her God mother Emily (Rosario) Duck Chief and her adopted siblings Ann McMaster, Adele(George) Cardinal, Geraldine(Melvin) Red Gun, Gabriel Duck Chief, Charlie Duck Chief, Richard (Lorna) Duck Chief, Sonya Big Crow, Serena and Keith Big Crow and Marlon and Tom Many Guns.

Marcia was a loving and comical soul, she never allowed her height to hinder her abilities, she walked more miles than we can ever imagine and she had a big heart for all those who crossed her path. Marcia was baptised in the Catholic Church and served our lord with her musical talents. She made her cursillo in 1984 and continued to share her faith and intentions for many years after.

Our family will miss our little mousia but we know that she is with our creator and her loved ones who have gone before us.

Marcia is survived by many families within Siksika Nation including the Blacks, Little Lights, Spring Chiefs, Poor Eagles, Sleighs, Brass, Own Chiefs, Bull Shields Crow Chiefs, Belcourts and many more. We truly apologize if we left anyone out, it is not easy to plan for our loved ones final celebration of life.

We welcome our family to join us on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at 4:00pm and the community at 6:00pm at the One Gun Community Center, Cluny AB.

Her traditional celebration of life and feast will begin at 11:00pm at the One Gun Hall and we will send her on her journey with a Catholic Ceremony at 2:00pm at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
