Leland “TREY” Dion Black – “Flying High-Ayostopaistoannii”

September 20, 1991 – June 08, 2022

“Trey” as everyone knew him, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends at the South Health Campus on June 08, 2022.

Trey was known for his kind-hearted nature, infectious smile and goofy attitude. He had a great love for everyone he came into contact with. Trey attended Chief Old Sun School and Siksika Nation High School.  Trey always had a hug for everyone and always left with an “I love you” Treys favorite colors were the Toronto Raptor colors of Red, White and Black. Trey mentioned at his Kindergarten graduation “When I grow up I wanna be Pink Floyd” which had the audience laughing with amusement. Trey liked all kinds of music and had a dance for every song. Trey managed to get the nickname Mr. Furley because of his actions. Trey had the greatest love for his dear mother Stephanie and once ran in a tornado warning just to make sure she was okay.

Trey is survived by his mother Stephanie White Eagle (Cary), his siblings Raven, Darien, Tanzi White Eagle and Randi Black. Travis, Tia, Evan, Serena Black and God-siblings JR Water Chief & Chasidy Wildman maternal uncles Renwick (Laurie), and Darren (Sherry), Hector (Rhonda) and Harry Winnipeg. Maternal aunties; Rebecca, Carole, Andrea, Jaqueline and Ethel (Myles), Monique Water Chief, Carla (Adam)Paternal uncles, Grant, and Graham (Karol). Great Uncles Dexter(Marie), Donnie (Nora) and Dion White Eagle and Stanley Black, Bishop Sidney (Melva) Black, Errol Bear Hat. Great Aunties: Eileen, Sheila, Sally Black, Elaine Wolf Ear. And Elaine (Roy) Bear Chief. Grandmothers, Elsie Winnipeg, Iris Wolf Ear, Georgina Sitting Eagle and Ruth Scalplock. Nieces and Nephews whom he really adored; Kiera Cutter, Dre Dre, Elias, Feather, Elia, Elonte McMaster, Riley White Eagle, Skylynn, Comrie, Mikeal, Dondre, Cee-Nee White Eagle-Left Hand, Ethan Black Cowboy, Zoey, McCartney Black, Lyle, Aiden, Aneesa Black, Carter Calf Mariah, Marcus, Zachary, Zayah Black, Jayah Black, Freedom Water Chief, Keely and Addison Wildman. His cats (furbabies) Bertha, Smokey, Mia Beans, Twiggy, Black Joe and Gizmo. He was predeceased by his Father Dean Black, Bettina Black (Mom/Aunty) His siblings Amber and Angel Crane Bear, Dulcie and Julian Black Grandparents: Joyce White Eagle, Hector Winnipeg, Nelson and Miranda Black, Uncles; Donnie Good Eagle, Calona Black aunts; April White Eagle, Melvina, Jerri, and Ursula Black and best friend Baby Bradley Black Horse.

Trey is also survived by extended families from the Black, White Eagle, Peacemakers, Medicine Traveller, Bear Chief, Winnipeg, Yellow Old Woman, Sleigh, Brass, White Elk, Healy, Sun Walk, Wolf Ear, Wolf Leg Backfat and Black Rider

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Stephanie White Eagle on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Gordan Yellow Fly Arbor on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 1pm. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of South Health Campus for taking care of our dear Trey.
