Adams, Lawrence Laverne passed away peacefully in his home on the farm near Duchess on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
He was born on November 15, 1928, to Marcus and Rosa Adams, one of many early Kansas families to settle in the Duchess area.
Lawrence attended school at Duchess and Cluny, Alberta.
He grew up farming with his brothers and sisters, and for the rest of his life was devoted to agriculture.
After the crops were off in the fall, he spent several winters mining coal in East Coulee (catching rides on the freight trains to get back and forth) and then several winters as a parts man, with Case and at Calgary in 1952 to work for the Nash Dealership there.
Lawrence met his future wife, Nancy Annie Denys in Calgary, where she was employed.
As with many farm and ranch families, the young couple worked hard raising four children and building up their mixed farm, raising livestock, forages, pulses, oilseeds, and cereal crops.
He was a vigorous, resolute man who impacted many lives.
Lawrence was predeceased by his wife Nancy, sisters Bea, Helen, and Jean, brother Ken and son Jerry. He is survived by his brother Richard and sisters Marlyn; and Rosemaree, children Susan (Bob) Hamblen, John (Cristita), Tom (Donna), and (Veronica), as well as 6 grandchildren, Nikki, Mitchell, Dustin, Kevin, Kyle, and Jim.
A private family graveside service is to be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
