Kayla Ann Stimson

Its with great sorrow we announce the passing of our dear Kayla Ann Stimson on December 15, 2022 at the age of 34 years at Peter Lougheed Centre, Calgary, AB

Kayla was born December 15, 1988 to Rosie Spotted Eagle (Malcolm LaFrance) and Stewart (Horton) Stimson at Valley General Hospital in Strathmore, AB

“Special K” as her father called her was employed with the Siksika Administration as the Switchboard Operator. She took great pride in her “Dream Job” and you could see this in her professional dress and attitude. Kayla also was in retail work with Penningtons. Kayla had such a kindhearted nature. She always greeted everyone with her beautiful big smile and a hug and always left with “I love you”. Kayla loved the Boston Bruins, she will be remembered for her bubbly attitude and infectious laugh. Kayla had a great love for children and was considered a second mother for many of her family and friend’s children.

Kayla is survived by her parents, Rosie Spotted Eagle (Malcolm LaFrance) and Stewart (Horton) Stimson, daughter; Vivian Boston, siblings; Lisa Stimson (John), Jacob LaFrance and Heaven LaFrance, nephews; Ethan, Dazareth, and Darius, Maternal aunts and uncles; Mildred Broad Scalplock, Tina Healy, Shirley Spotted Eagle, Robbi Robinson, Colin Spring Chief, Randy (Caroline) Spring Chief, Darcy (Rennie) Spotted Eagle, Jason Spotted Eagle, Adam (Carla) Spotted Eagle, Wade (Raylene) Healy & Ken (Gina) Healy . Paternal aunts and uncles; Diana Stimson, Maria Stimson, Sophia Stimson, Sharon Mcmaster,  Danny Stimson, and Jordan Stimson. Traditional parents; Horton and Cecile Running Rabbit, Traditional Grandparents; Allan and Josie Running Rabbit, Traditional Siblings: Janine Running Rabbit, Carrie & Nicole Bastien and JR Waterchief.  Her special Fur babies; Tiger and Lily.

Kayla is predeceased by her siblings; Samantha Spotted Eagle, Lance Peacemaker and Keith Stimson, Maternal Grandparents; John and Violet Spotted Eagle, Paternal Grandparents; Colin and Bella Stimson.  Maternal aunts; Joan Spotted Eagle, Claudia Spring Chief, Dale Hinves Paternal Aunts; Colleen Stimson &Tina Stimson, Maternal uncles; Ashley (Jolie) Spotted Eagle, Paternal Uncles: Andrew (Porky) Stimson and Jason Dyler (Stimson). Cousins; Darwin, Brittney,  Mardi, Amelia, Dwight, Scott and Nigel Stimson.  Kayla is survived by many relatives of Siksika Nation.

Wake services will be held Thursday December 22, 2022 at 6:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gleichen, AB.

Funeral Services will be held Friday December 23, 2022 at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gleichen, AB. Intern at Paul Little Walker Cemetery, Siksika Nation, AB
