Jordy Stanley Poor Eagle

Jordy Stanley Poor Eagle, beloved son of Jackie Poor Eagle & Norbert Bear Chief and the late Faye-Anne Sun Walk & Jordan Poor Eagle passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 15/2023 at the age of 32 years.

 Jordy was born at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB. Jordy attended Chief Old Sun Elementary school, went to Milo School for Jr. High, for Senior High he attended SNHS, and took some courses at the OSCC. Jordy worked for Siksika Public Works as a summer student, camomile weed disposal, Bruce Morriseau LTD security guard, and SAIT pipe fitting. Jordy also made his Cursillo and his song was “I Feel the spirit moving”. Jordy had a passion for art and won various art contests. Some of Jordy’s pastimes included guitar, hand games, outdoor activities, riding horses, and Played Hockey (Grandpa Amos would call him Eddie Shack) also loved spending time with family and friends. Jordy was kind-hearted, soft-spoken, respectful, humble also had a good sense of humour.

 Jordy will greatly be missed by the two great loves of his life, his Pride & Joy His baby boy Jorzel Jordan McMaster/Poor Eagle and Lawrence Raw Eater, his brothers; Justin Bear Chief, Dustin Poor Eagle, Andrew Poor Eagle, and Tyler Poor Eagle and his dear sisters: Natasha Poor Eagle (Morgan), Whitney Sitting Eagle, Hilary Sitting Eagle, Meagan Sun Walk, also, his adopted sister Linnea (Sherman) Many Wounds. Jordy took his first cousins as brothers and sisters too numerous to name.

Jordy also leaves behind his nieces and nephews; Paige McMaster, Shadessa Water Chief, Carlin Bear Chief, Taige Water Chief, Frankie Bear Chief, Odin Bear Chief, Shadow & Ryker Bear Chief, Mason Poor Eagle, Hayzlen, Payten, Anthony, Vaiden, and Tilly.

Jordy is survived by his loving Grandmother: Rosemary Poor Eagle, Grandfather: Wallace Bear Chief Sr. Aunts: Carlene Bear Chief, Lynne Poor Eagle, and Marlene Bear Chief; Great Aunties: Betty Poor Eagle, Joan Poor Eagle (Lawrence), Leita Sun Walk, Roslin Many Guns, Harvina (Rudy) Tartsah. Uncles: Douglas (Beverly) Poor Eagle, Robin Big Snake, Trent (Elaine) Sun Walk and Troy (Jocelyn) Sun Walk, Clayton (Joan) Many Guns, Smokey (Trina) Turning Robe, Harley (Verna) Youngman. 

Jordy was predeceased by his dad Jordan Poor Eagle, mother Faye-Anne Sun Walk, Grandfather Amos Poor Eagle, great grandparents Joe and Beatrice Poor Eagle, Albert and Maggie Big Snake,  Henry, and Clara Sun Walk, paternal grandmother Angeline Bear Chief and his cousin who he took as a sister Tracy Poor Eagle.

Extended families consist of: Poor Eagle, Big Snake, Black, Spring Chief, Many Bears, Maguire, Olds, Wolf Leg, Three Suns, Breaker, Good Eagles, Family from Maple Creek Saskatchewan; Sun Walk, Calf, Calf Robes, Scalp Locks, White Elks, Many Shots, Bear Shirts, Many Fires, Sitting Eagles, Bear Chief, Many Guns.

The family apologizes if anyone was missed.

Wake services will be held at Jackie Poor Eagle’s residence in Poor Eagle Flats 2:00-5:00 pm for family and 6 pm for the public Sunday, May 21/23. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB.) on Monday, May 22/23 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Crowfoot Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
