Jo-Ann Ila Grove (nee Lake)

Passed away on September 6, 2025 at the age of 61 at her home in Duchess.

Born the youngest of three girls on March 4, 1964 in Brooks to Keith and Joyce Lake of Duchess. She spent the majority of her life in Duchess. She had strong roots and never wanted to leave her home. Over the years she was a dedicated wife, an incredible mother to her two children, a loving sister/daughter, an extraordinary friend, a wonderful caregiver to various seniors, among many other things. She was a bright light, quick to laugh, and make anyone laugh or smile. Her desire was to serve, whether that be her husband, children, family, friends, senior clients or her community. While she struggled in her later years, and lost touch with many, her family and closest friends will always remember the incredible person she was.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband Stephen, son Kyle, daughter Shannon (Colt) Mokelky, and her two grand babies, Selah and Piper. She is greatly missed by her sister; Heather (Rick) Unruh, niece Margo and nephew Murray; her sister Holly (Terry) Schnell, nieces Lisa and Amy and nephews John and Ryan; as well as many other in-laws, extended family and close friends.

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 18th at 2pm at the Duchess Community Hall with a luncheon after. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jo-Ann’s name to the Canadian Mental Health Association - Alberta Division (alberta.cmha.ca/donate) or any charity of your choosing.
