Jarrett Adam Wright – Solway
April 7, 1990 – December 26, 2025
Heaven opened where Apistotoki (Creator), along with his parents, Karen and Garth, brought Jarrett home. Paastahtooyii is now safely with his ancestors, where he is greatly loved as he was by his grandparents, great-grandparents, and those who have journeyed before him. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our “Jerry Boy”, “Jare”, “Jare Bear”. He is known as a Minipooka - a special, treasured child at the age of 35 years.
From his birth at Strathmore Hospital, Jarrett was deeply cherished and known for his quiet, humble spirit. Jarrett was one of the many blessings our family prayed for, and on April 7, 1990, the Creator answered with his arrival. His late father honored tradition by naming him after his grandfather, Chief Adam Solway—a name Jare carried with immense pride. As the grandchild of Wilfred and Geraldine Soop, George and Dorine Wright, and Henry and Priscilla Three Suns, he naturally became the protector of the grandchildren thereafter. His Godparents were Treena Pretty Young Man and Ruben “Buck” Breaker.
Jarrett was deeply loved by both his paternal and maternal families, bridging the distance between Siksika and Kainai with his presence. As a child, he enjoyed playing hockey with Siksika minor hockey. His grandma, Geraldine, cherished watching him at the Treaties in Calgary. One unforgettable moment was when Jare spotted her in the stands—he skated circles in front of her, grinning like he was in the NHL, even as the play continued on the other side of the rink. Jarrett valued time spent watching NHL hockey; his favourite team was the Montreal Canadiens, with his dad and brothers.
As a teenager, Jare joined his parents and the Solway family on the WPCA trail, helping bring to life the dream of Chuckwagon racing, envisioned by his great-uncle Curly Solway. He quickly learned the ropes, working side by side and under the guidance of his dad, Garth, to hook up the horses for the races. Jarrett often told his sister, Cheyenne, that he wanted to be an outrider when he grew up. Through these experiences, he gained invaluable skills and a deep respect for the cowboy way of life. “Jerry” also grew up immersed in his family's ranching lifestyle with his grandfather, George.
His Kainai grandparents eagerly awaited his visits throughout the year, though they were always sad to see him return home. Bullhorn (Kainai) became his second home during summer holidays and Christmas breaks, where he arrived with his video games, which he enjoyed, computers, and toys in tow. Holidays were magical for him—his grandparents and aunts went all out, and most of the gifts under the tree were for their beloved “Jare Bear.”
Tech-savvy like his late dad, Jare was the family’s go-to IT expert, fixing anything electronic with ease. He possessed a natural aptitude for technology—an intuitive problem-solver who could quickly understand new systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and teach others with patience and clarity just like his mom. Whether setting up equipment, optimizing devices, or exploring new software, Jarrett approached technology with ease and curiosity.
His analytical mind extended to his love of history, particularly Japanese history, which he studied extensively. Fulfilling a long-held dream, he travelled to Japan twice—first with his brother CJ, and later with his brother Ricci.
Now, he rests in a place where the cherry blossoms never fade, embraced by peace and the love of those who went before him. Our family will miss our Jare Bear, but we find solace in knowing the Three Best friends anyone could have are back together, him and his parents.
Jarrett is survived by his beloved baby, Noah Wolf Leg, and his fur baby, Oni. A special bond with Grandpa George Wright, brother Dylan, and his niece, Novah (aka Hime).
