Jack Red Crow Obituary

It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Jack Red Crow at the age of 31. Jack was born in Strathmore, Alberta and resided on the Siksika Nation. He loved dearly, and cherished his time with his only child Zayn Red Crow. He brought him so much joy. Jack touched many lives and will be fondly remembered for his caring, humble, humorous and energic nature. Jack is survived by his son: Zayn Red Crow, his mother: Janice Spotted Eagle (Blair), Siblings: Solomon, Jocelyn, Jessica, Danielle, Ben, Ashley, his beloved Grandmother: June Spotted Eagle, Grandmother: Jessie Buller, Special Aunties: Cherie, Glenda (Jeanette), Tracey, Bonnie, Aunties: Kanakii, Mona (Paul), Chris, Jennifer, Tracey C.R., Loreli C.R., Regina, Special Uncle Warren, Uncle Eldon (Yong Wah), Special cousins: Ty, Roxanna, Raven, Kaitlyn, Warren Jr., Jeremiah, Blossom, Nathan, and Jacob, Special nieces and nephews: Issac, Anitaki, Nathan, the twins Jessica and Neveah, and James and Tavelle, step-son: Myles Rabbit Carrier, cousins: Kent, Trevor, Samantha, Cheri-Beth, Nina, Tim, Lisa, Lisa, Zachariah, Angle, Gloria, David, Pricilla, Sarah, Stephanie, Dillon, Alexandra, Warren, and Amelia. Jack leaves behind his family and relatives: Many Fires, Little Chiefs, Bear Hats, Water Chiefs, Wolf Legs, Smiths, Bear Chief, Fox, Stimsons, Crowfoots, Black Waters, Riders, McHughs, Big Snakes, Winnipegs, Mayfields, First Riders, Many Guns, Yellow Old Woman and Turning Robes. Jack was predeceased by his father: Daniel Red Crow, Brothers: Zandis, Stewart, Jason, Nathan, Sisters: Natasha, Vanessa, Uncle: Wesley Red Crow, Auntie: Asteria Red Crow, Step-Grandfather: James Good Eagle, Maternal Grandfather: Cecil Many Fires and Paternal Grandfather: Willie Red Crow, Maternal Great-Grand parents: Jack and Maggie Spotted Eagle, Paternal Great-Grandparents: Steve and Mary Ann Many Fires, and Paternal Great-Grand parents: Jack and Ellen Winnipeg. The family apologizes for anyone missed. Jack enjoyed his music, special time with his family and friends and making new friends. Jack attended Chief Old Sun School, Siksika High School, Strathmore High School, completed his training with the University of Calgary Leadership/Ambassador Program and a Skilled Labour Program with SAIT. He was employed with Siksika Board of Education as a Student Mentorship Worker/Special Education at Crowfoot School, briefly as a Security with Siksika High School, a Youth Worker with Dancing Deer Disaster Recovery Centre, a skilled Labourer with Siksika Indoor Rodeo Arena-Construction, Maintenance Worker with Siksika Elders Lodge, summer student with M&R Gas Station, and as a Disaster Emergency Management Worker with the Siksika Support Centre. Jack had many interests, including volunteering for a Blackfoot Language Video Series as an actor, with the Blackfoot Warrior Party Horsemanship/Film Society and participated in many ranch brandings. Jack was an athletic. In his younger years, rode his first mutton-bustin at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo in 1999, involved with boy's steer riding, soccer, baseball, hiking, track and field, basketball, and hockey. He played with the Siksika Minor Hockey Association and won the Provincial Midget Championship. Jack continued his passion for participation. He was actively involved with baseball-slowpitch, horse trail fundraising activities for cancer research, and the Siksika Hockey House League. The family is grateful for the support, prayers, kind words and stories of our beloved Jack. Wake Services at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour, Siksika Nation on June 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour on June 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Gravesite service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery, Siksika Nation. The Reverend Larry Water Chief officiating. Feast to follow at Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour.
