It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Mrs. Geraldine Red Gun (Duck Chief). Miianiistiikitstakiaki, Many Sacred Offerings Woman. Geraldine/Miiaani, as everyone knew her by was born on March 26th, 1949, to Emily & Rosario Duck Chief. On October 8th, 2020, surrounded by family, Geraldine passed away peacefully. Geraldine was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie, caregiver, teacher, principal and friend. Geraldine will be lovingly remembered by her precious children, Elroy (Donna), Yolanda, Darcy, Leslie, Kelly (Sonia) and Christine (Natashia). Numerous grand children & great grand children, siblings June, Marie, Herman (Ida), Jackie (Clarence).
Geraldine was predeceased by her parents Rosario & Emily, husband Melvin ‘Buster’ Red Gun, Grand daughter Amelia, Sister’s Ann, Adele, Brother’s, Gabriel, Charlie and Richard.
Geraldine was a loving caregiver to numerous children whom she loved, raised & cherished. Geraldine graduated with her Bachelors of Education and worked for the Siksika Board of Education as a teacher and later became principal for many years. Geraldine was a devoted catholic, a gifted singer, guitar player and volunteered her time to sing in Cursillos, youth searches and pilgrimages. Wake Services will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. (Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour) Funeral on Thursday October 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church; Laid to rest at the Little Chicago Cemetery; the family would like to send their gratitude to the Humble and Loving service of the Vulcan Hospital; though her stay was short, the compassionate care that she received is greatly appreciated.
