Earl Kevin Calfchild “Poohtsikiis”

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Kevin Calfchild on August 30, 2025. Kevin was born in Siksika to the late Earl Calfchild and Florence Calfchild (nee Cayen). Kevin attended his younger years at Gleichen school, then at about 7 years old, he was sent to Cardston, Alberta, and was placed with a Mormon family until the age of 15, when he returned home to Siksika. Later on, Kevin attended SAIT in Calgary and graduated from Culinary Studies and was valedictorian for his class. Kevin also took courses with Old Sun Community College here in Siksika, many times being seen walking with his granddaughter Charnell, who also attended courses. Kevin was a determined man who was a jack of all trades, working at Siksika Public Works, Ali Service station in Gleichen, Old Sun Community colleg,e and many more places until his retirement. Kevin’s love for all his extended family was great, even checking on his Cayenne family during the flood of 2013. He was always checking to make sure food was available to his grandchildren. He was humble and always put his family's needs before his own. Kevin loved being visited by his friends and extended family. He enjoyed playing pool, crediting John Yellow Old Woman Sr. for teaching him great shots. He also liked to visit his family and friends, playing his music and cards. Kevin enjoyed his oldies but goodies in music, once planning to play in a band with Norbert Bearchief and Robin Big Snake back in the day. Kevin often listened to his favorite gospel music as he had strong faith in Our Lord God. Kevin went through many obstacles in life, but stayed strong in his spirituality, always reciting passages in the bible to his family members and instilling his beliefs and faith with his family and friends. Kevin took pride in his family history and was always with his father, Earl, who instilled the knowledge of his family's past in him. Kevin loved his parents and was broken when he lost them both. He will be so missed by the many nieces and nephews, too numerous to name. Kevin shared his past family heritage and always reminded his children and grandchildren to be proud and humble and to pray for one another. He will be missed by all but is now reunited with his family…..Until We Meet Again.
