Dear DIEary,

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dallas Gordon Everette Wright, “Sorrel Horse- Otsimoatasii”– on September 14, 2021, at the age of 43.

Dallas was a very fun, loving, gentle man. He was known by various nicknames such as Chopper, Chemicals and everyone’s favorite, Nailz. Nailz favorites lines to which he was known for, “I am BEAUTIFULLL, with 3 L’s” and “May the Force be with YOU”.

Nailz touched the hearts of many people throughout his lifetime.  His commitment to himself was to pray and encourage others to have faith.  A special experience was when he did his Cursillo on October 26th, 1997.  

Nailz love for children was very evident as a kind-hearted bus driver.  He drove for the family company Water Chief Busing.  He also continued to help with the family business, MK Ranch, taking care of the cattle. He enjoyed working at the Siksika Daycare, staff and children were graced with Nailz fun loving character.

Proudly, Nailz wore the apparel of his favourite teams and he boasted about the Edmonton Oilers, Saskatchewan Rough Riders, the Dream Catcher Pool team, TZo ThoZ GuyZ, H2H, Wolf Pac, and his favorite Nascar driver, Mark Martin as well as his family Handgame team.

Before his passing, Nailz was attending Red Crow Community College in Lethbridge. His decision and desire to return to school was to influence his children and grandchildren.  He knew by setting this example will show them the importance of learning.   He excelled in his studies and achieved numerous academic awards. He was rewarded attendance incentives; he never missed a day of classes. He had a keen sense of humor was appreciated by his colleagues and love to visit.  His positive influence encouraged his peers to follow through with school.

Nailz is survived by his children Zarek (Lily) and Lucas MJ; his grandson’s Ezekiel and Ambrose; his sweetie Rochelle Hunt, his parents Mario and Karen Water Chief; Brothers Shane (Mel) Water Chief, Brent (Tara) Spring Chief, Erwin (Angel) Bear Chief, Brett, Trenton, Smith and Tyson; sisters Leslie(Will), Shay, Ashley (Traves), K.T, Telly, Rikki, and Tash (Deon) White Man. Nailz special sisters were Sasheen Wright, Glenda Black Horse, Barb Smith, Melanie Back Fat, Lindsey Back Fat, Ruth (Baby Girl) Yellowfly and Naomi Weasel Bear; his godchildren Aleisha Many Heads, Katrina Many Heads, Hayden “George” and Dalen Wright. Paternal Uncles; his God Father Larry Water Chief and Horace (Celeste) Bull Bear. Maternal Aunts/Uncles; George, Pinky, Bryan, Doreen, and Lucy (Ted) and Karen Faye.  Traditional Aunts/Uncles; Sam & Earlene Cardinal, Karla & Mike Devine, Donna Raw Eater, Evelyn Weasel Head, Connie (Mike) Rabbit Carrier, Liz Scout, Kim Blackwater, and Mildred Three Suns.

Wake services will be held at the MK Ranch, Mario & Karen Water Chief’s residence, Friday September 17, 2021 @ 6p.m. Funeral service Officiated by Bishop Sidney Black, Saturday, September 18, 2021 @11 a.m. St. John the Divine Anglican Church, Siksika Nation.  Burial service at Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
