Calvin Smith Obituary

Calvin Carl Smith– April 19, 1978 – October 4, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Calvin Smith. He passed away in his residence at the age of 47.
Cal was raised on the Siksika Nation and grew up in the Chicago, North Camp, and Crowfoot areas, before finally making his home in North Camp, where he spent his remaining years.
Calvin was a skilled carpenter who took immense pride in his craft and often worked with his father, Dwight, on contracts and with numerous friends/family. He also enjoyed working alongside his Mom, Darlene, and brother Waylon during the 2013 Flood as a Youth Worker at the Dancing Deer Disaster Recovery Centre; and was a hard worker on his Dad Cody’s ranch. Calvin attended many concerts with his brothers, Cassius and late brother, Jay, and cousins. He shared a love of music, comic books, collectibles, and sci-fi movies with his brother Cassius. He also enjoyed working with his other brothers, Dallas, Dillon, and late brother, Lance. He also loved fishing and quadding with his family and friends.
Cal was very close to his cousins and had a very close bond with Kenton, Desmond, Mory, Kym, Kimba, Trevor, Tony, Dawn, and Sue.
Calvin’s greatest pride was in raising his beloved children and sharing in many adventures with them. He enjoyed sharing his coin collection, comics, video games, and collectibles with his oldest, Madi. She never thought she would like Marvel movies until she watched it with her dad, especially Scarlet Witch on Disney Plus & Avengers Age of Ultron. He and his youngest daughter, Romy, both had a love of shopping and enjoying the great outdoors. He enjoyed working on vehicles, carpentry, and fishing with his sons, Lewis and Ali. He also kept in close contact with his other son, Lorenzo, who resides in Tsuut’ina Nation. Calvin was a very proud grandfather and his love for his grandchildren knew no bounds. Despite Cal’s health concerns, he never allowed that to stop him from being the best Dad possible.
He will be missed by his beloved parents, Mama Bear Darlene & Cody Munro, his brothers Cassius (Cara) Smith, Waylon Black, Darcy Red Gun and his sisters, Dawn Ayoungman & Daryl Lynn Nepoose ( Leah); his children Lorenzo, Ali (Bree), Madi (Piero), Lewis (Jade), and Romy also known as Aliyah, his grand children Benny and Cavelle, mother of his children Amanda Brass; nieces and nephews: Astokomii (Alex), Freedom, Brody, Brooklyn, Beth, Brayden, Brock, Blaine, Shavonne, Shavez, River, Billie, Dragon (Ashanti), Jet, Willow, Ryder & Olivia, Great Nieces and Nephews Azarius, Noah, Ziya & Kaida ; his grandmothers Rachel Ermineskin and Eileen Black, Aunts and Uncles, Karen, Marcia, Joey (Shannon), Adrian (Georgia), Fabian, John Jr (Marie), Trent, and Todd Munro. Also to all the rest of his Yellow Old Woman/Red Gun and extended families.
