It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Beverly Jane Leather Nii Water Chief. On good Friday the Lord called her home at the age of 71. Where she was reunited with her parents Georgina Many Bears, James Water Chief her children who have gone before her Lydia, Shelley, and Jason, and her grandbaby Jeanette. And her brothers and sisters who have gone before her, whom she was very lonely for in the past couple of years. Beverly was born and raised in Siksika Nation and attended Chief Old Sun Residential School. Beverly was a strong catholic woman who loved Jesus. She was known for her constant involvement every year for the Siksika Women’s Cursillo. She made her Cursillo in May of 1988, and her theme song was Hail Mary gentlewoman. Where she was known to be on the cooking team. She made many many sisters in Christ, where she always kept a loving relationship with everyone throughout the years. She was known for her love for Jesus. She not only raised her own six children, but also her grandchildren & great-grandchildren whom she loved truly adored, and lived her life for. Kyle, Lindsey, Leesha, Hailey, Lynette, Dallas, Cameron, Shanielle, Kamie, Danielle, Roselle, Mariah, Kiara, Wayne 3rd, Colton, Lyndon, Hayden, Tayus. Great Grandchildren Shylo, Blue, Kiaayo, Kiyahkii, Piita, Sinopa, Isabelle, Persella, Lydia, Petara, Tadis, Thermin, Ethan, David, Diaz, Tianna, Aiyana, Zeya, Sydney, Damion, Taven, Tavelle, Ryland, Ayla, Kezlyn. And a few on the way.
She leaves behind her husband of 51 years Wayne Leather Sr. who was her best friend, her confidant, her protector, the love of her life. She also leaves her three children Myra (Ben) Wayne Jr (Thomsina), Tyler (Adele). Whom she loved so dearly. She was also actively involved in watching her grandkids, nephews, and nieces play some minor hockey. Beverly was known for her big beautiful smile, loving gestures, and the love she had for her family, the family she and Wayne built over the years. She always encouraged the ones she loved to get to know Jesus and the power of prayer. Beverly and Wayne camped every year at the Siksika Nation Pow wow, and Tsuu Tina Nation Pow wow. Her trailer was always open for a cup of coffee and a visit from anyone who came by. She loved camping. Beverly had such a huge impact on anyone she came to know and call her friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her
Bev leaves behind brothers and sisters; Michael Right Hand, Richard Right Hand (Florence) Marcell Right Hand (Delores), Gina (Lance) Flamand, Novena Flynn; her father, James Water Chief; mother Georgina Ann Many Bears; brother, Arthur Right Hand, Timothy and Debbie Spotted One, Gregory Young, Joyce (Jerry) Daniels, Gary Right Hand; sisters, Jean Many Heads, Gail Right Hand, Marilyn Right Hand, Margarita Flynn, Mildren Simeon; extended families, Water Chiefs, Peace Makers, Many Bears, and Poor Eagles. Pre Deceased Joe Running Rabbit, Annie Running Rabbit, George Leather, Thomas Jerry, Jean Leather, Lilly Edwards, Angeline Leather, Raymond Crow Chief. And is survived by Larry (Laverna) Leather, Clarence Leather Sr.
