Barbara Jeannette Weasel Child

Barbara Jeanette (BJae) Weasel Child Akaipotaakii – February 5, 1982 – July 15, 2020. 

With heavy hearts we sadly announce that our beautiful BJae was called home suddenly by our Creator, she leaves to mourn her Mother Elizabeth, brothers Martin and Ritchie, her loving husband Jason and her precious miracle baby, her daughter Billie. BJae will also be dearly missed by her Aunts Rose, Elnora, Donna, Verna (Harley), Steph, Joanne (Mike), Lena, Ruth (Francis) and Joyce; Uncles Joe (Girlene), Eldon (Deanna), Gary, Eric, Harvey Jr., Herman and Calvert (Wilda); nieces and nephews Odessa, Ahneasha, Aleah, Antoine, Ashlynn, Addison and Ayonte; traditionally adopted siblings Kim, Vanessa (Art), Sherry, Sue, Shane, Avery, Rambert and Tuffy; numerous cousins; her Step-Children Brody, Braedon, Blaine, Brock, Beth, Brooke and Shavonne and In-Laws Dwight (Debbie) Smith and Darlene (Cody) Munro. Bjae was raised in Siksika and attended Siksika High School, she was a strong, hard working woman and left Siksika to work in the restaurant industry, twice getting promoted to Manager, before moving back home to Siksika to be closer to her Mother and brother Martin. She treasured all her many cousins and friends, Bjae always greeted you with a big hug and enjoyed visiting and laughing, loved taking selfies with everyone and always ended a conversation with an “I love you.” Bjae was a Daddy’s girl and it gives us comfort that was welcomed in Heaven with a huge bear hug from her Dad Stan, she also joins her brothers Sonnie and Korrie, Grandparents Adolphus and Alice Weasel Child, Harvey and Lorraine Peace Maker; Aunts Doralee, Shirley, Harvina and Anita; Uncles Merlin and Orville and cousins Jolene, Travis, baby Francis, Kelly, Jason and TJ.  BJae comes from the Sayiiks Clan and the extended families of Ayoungman, Yellowfly, Backfat, McDougall, Stimson, Delaney, Peace Maker, Calf, Water Chief, Kipp, Spring Chief and Turning Robe; In-Laws Smith and Yellow Old Woman and numerous relatives from the Treaty Seven Nations and in Saskatchewan.

Wake service will be held at Elizabeth Peace Maker’s residence in Siksika on Wednesday, July 22 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will also be held at Elizabeth Peace Maker’s on Thursday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. with Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone who has kept the family in prayer during this difficult time.
