Arthur Norman Mathers

Arthur “Art” Norman Mathers of Brooks, Alberta passed away on June 13, 2026 at the age of 80. He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Ken (Eleanor) Mathers, Clifford “Kip” Mathers, Bev (Marilyn) Mathers; his step-children Carol, Rosemarie and Vicki; his grandchildren, Michelle, Taylor, Caleb and Jared; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Art was predeceased by his parents, Lyle James Mathers and Olive Grace Hincks; his brother, Clint “Butch” (Judy) Mathers; and his sister, Jean (Jim) Thomas.

Art was born on September 27, 1945 in Imperial, Saskatchewan. He grew up in the small town of Penzance, Saskatchewan. His greatest joys in life were his family, friends, and sports. In his younger years, Art played baseball in the summer and hockey in the winter. He was a fantastic pitcher and was invited to play on the best local teams in both sports. He moved to Brooks, Alberta and went on to work in the oil patch and run a Hot Shot Service. Art was an intelligent, kind, and hardworking man, an exemplary stepfather, and adored his grandchildren. He was always ready to lend a hand and made the world a better place for his loved ones. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his grandchildren, going for coffee with his friends, and watching sports, especially the Brooks Bandits.

At Art’s request, no funeral service will be held.
