Arnold Running Rabbit

Running Rabbit – Arnold. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, co-worker and friend. Arnold Running Rabbit Sr. was born on July 17, 1947 at the old Blackfoot Hospital in Siksika, AB. He was saved on January 10, 2018 at the Strathmore Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Arnold attended St. Joseph residential school with his brothers until the age of 15 when he started his working career. He held various jobs which he took great pride in. Notably working with his brother at R & R Plumbing. Most recently (for the last 35 years) as the Maintenance Supervisor at Old Sun Community College and he also drove the bus for students. Arnold enjoyed playing many sports such as basketball, gymnastics, track & field, hockey as a player and goalie, and pool. Arnold made his cursillo in June 1987 along with his dad and brothers with the theme ‘Decolores’ which was very special to him as it was on Father’s Day, he always cherished that weekend. He was always a great support to his grandkids, nieces, and nephews hockey and could normally be found cheering them on at the local arenas. Arnold loved his pets especially the dogs that were very loyal to him. Family was everything to Arnold and he always looked forward to family gatherings. He enjoyed playing bingo and was a regular at the Bingo Barn or Grey Eagle. Arnold made friends with everyone young and old and will be remembered for his humour as he always had a funny story or remark to share; he left an impression on all who met him and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Lena; children Tara & Arnold Jr; grandchildren Donovan, Andreana, Tyrell, Renelle, Russell(Taelynn) and Reed; great grandchildren Jamin and Taya. His siblings Allan(Josie), Morris(Myrna), Garry(Karen), Colleen(Lionel), Joanne(Stuart), Wesley(Birdie) and Rita(Clarence), in-laws; Alexandria Catface, Shirley Bull Bear, Hanks(Eileen) Eagle Head, Candi Turning Robe, Joan Small Legs, Jeanette Crow Shoe. Uncles Wayne(Beverly), Larry(Laverna) and Clarence Leather and Steve Red Old Man; aunts Veronica(Wayne) Old Woman and Mary Ann Wells, Numerous nieces, nephews and extended families Spring Chief, Duck Chief, Doore, Frank, Leather, Medicine Shield, Solway, Bear Hat, Red Old Man, Hindbull and Young Pine. He was predeceased by his babygirl Sherri, parents Joe and Annie Running Rabbit, sister Sheila, nephews Ian, Dez, JR, Dallas Jr, nieces Verlyn and Ilana; in-laws Michael Catface, Norma(Damien) Cayenne, Lloyd, Rex Catface, Christina Bull Shields and Glen Turning Robe. Wake services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbor beginning at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbor beginning at 12:00 pm.
