Arlene Calf Obituary

Arlene Calf – September 20, 1961 – July 14, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, grandma-ma, godmother, niece, cousin and friend Arlene Calf.

She leaves to mourn her precious grandson Carter Calf, sisters Alvine (Darrel), Sheila (Phil), Sandie (Irvine), Pamela (Jason), Shelly (Wes), and Laura (Dennis Sr.); Brothers Boyce (Leandra) and Edwin; Godchildren Baby Arlene (Ardelle) Young and Alvin Calf Jr (Bo); traditional sister Bernice Leather; Aunties Sharon and Wanda Calf Robe and Nancy Big Crow; Uncles Randy (Jaylene), Stan (Rose) and aunt Rose Hairy Bull; numerous relatives she took as brothers and sisters.

Arlene attended Crowfoot school for her elementary and junior high school years as well as Drumheller Composite High School for senior high. Arlene played basketball with the Blackfoot Feathers, volleyball with Drumheller Composite High School, and baseball with the Blackfoot Beehives. She made her Cursillo in 1989 and her theme song was “You’ve Got the Power”.

Arlene was very outspoken with sarcastic comments and always had to have the last word.  She truly cared for her family and was the favourite auntie to all her nieces and nephews.  Arlene was auntie mom to her beloved Stoney, as well as Carly and Jimmy Weasel Child and grandma-ma to her precious grandson Carter. At the passing of her late mother Donna (Doris), Arlene took on that motherly role to her siblings and made sure they were all ok. She poured out an immense amount of love for her siblings, nieces, nephews and relatives that we will miss tremendously.

She had many friends that she dearly loved and cherished throughout her years.  Arlene shared a special bond with Myrna, Letty, Kevin, Donna, Herbie and Angela to which the family would like to acknowledge. You will all have a special place in our hearts for loving and supporting Arlene.

Arlene was predeceased by her beautiful mom Donna (Doris), dad Alvin Sr., beloved son Stoney, cousin Harvina Red Crow, brother Jeff Little Light and great-niece La’Tazmyn Calf. Maternal uncles Sonny, Ed Sr., Wilfred, George, Larry and Bruce; and Auntie Kathy; Paternal aunts and uncles Irvin, Albert, Marie, Gary, Larry, Lorraine, Keith, Alberta Mary. Arlene will be missed by her extended families Calf, Calf Robe, Sitting Eagle, Black Kettle, Rabbit Carrier, Weasel Head, Bear Robe and Hairy Bull.

Special thank you to Siksika homecare, adopted sister Nurse Tessa, all family members who stayed and helped in our time of need, and to community friends who donated food and financial support. The family apologizes to anyone who we may have missed.

The wake service will be held at the residence of late Arlene Calf on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 4pm. Funeral services will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 1pm with Father Long presiding.  Graveside service to follow at Little Washington cemetery with a feast to follow at Arlene’s residence.
