DENNIS BLACK RIDER OBITUARY
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, grandfather, brother and uncle Dennis Geoffry Black Rider (Blue Bird) Sr. Saakmoowohkoomi (Last Thunder). Born on January 7, 1936 and passed away December 31, 2019. He leaves to mourn his children: Katie, Denise (James), Dennis (Jennifer) Quinn (Julia) and Clayton and his only surviving sister Myrtle Good Eagle. He loved his 36 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by: parents Joseph and Katharine Black Rider, siblings: Margaret, Jean, Mable, Hazel and Marie, daughter Sharon and grandchildren Keith, Kelsey, Cory Kayla and Joshua.  He was the only son of the family which meant he spoiled and very much loved by his sisters. Dennis was a sweet and humble man that had many accomplishments and highlights of his lifetime here on earth. He won the world chicken dance championship, loved his bareback and his jockey days as a young man. He was also well known for his beautiful arts & craft work that he enjoyed doing. Extended families are: Turning Robe, Low Horns, McMaster, Wolf Ear, Red Gun, Sunshoe, White Eagle and Medicine Traveller. Sorry if we forgot anyone. Wake services will be held at 6 pm on Jan. 5 at Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Jan. 6 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Siksika.
